About Me

I’m Paula Prober–a licensed psychotherapist and consultant in private practice in Eugene, Oregon, USA. I specialize in counseling gifted adults and youth (in the state of Oregon) and I consult with parents of gifted children and with gifted adults internationally.

In my consultations, I help parents understand their gifted children and I provide resources and strategies for helping these kids navigate challenges such as schooling, intense emotions, perfectionism, anxiety, and more. When consulting with gifted adults, we look at identifying and appreciating the gifted traits and at ways to navigate the sensitivities, intensities, career paths, relationships, and the challenges and benefits of rainforest-mindedness.

While I don’t typically contact authors, in this case it feels like there is no getting around it. I’m a 40-year-old man living in Belgium, and reading your book is one of the most shocking experiences I’ve had in years. It truly is as if you’re describing my character and all the struggles I’ve had, one by one, page by page. I literally cannot read more that 3 pages before I need to stop because I’ve started crying. Again…”

“…From my heart, I can say you are doing important work with your blog. I feel as if someone is trying to help me unravel things and there haven’t been too many places I could look to for this out there in the world. There aren’t many people acting as guides or imparting wisdom for complicated creatures such as RFM souls. It’s a special helpful treasure and perhaps it will help me do somethings that have been waiting under the layers for a long time. Thank you.”

“…I discovered this blog early this year and immediately loved it.”

“…meeting you and your work has been one of the best and most pleasant news in many years of emotional loneliness…I am going to buy your book because I feel that it will bring more quality to my life and my self-understanding. A pleasure having known from you and the work you do. I send you an affectionate hug from Barcelona.”

“First of all, thank you so much for writing your book. I was up in the middle of the night (again) and thought there must be a book that can help explain how crazy I am. Those were my literal thoughts. I found yours, ordered it and it’s safe to say I have been hit by a ton of bricks. I am overwhelmed right now as it explains lifelong difficulties I couldn’t quite put a finger on. It’s simultaneously gratifying and disorientating. I can’t see anything the same and I’m now seeing my entire past with this knowledge and saying to myself ‘so that’s why I struggled/got lost/got confused/was disillusioned, etc. etc…thank you again. I feel like this genuinely might start turning my life around…”

“I just finished your book and I wanted to say THANK YOU. Thank you for understanding, thank you for putting this into words, and for jotting together so many strings that I had no idea were connected…this truly changed me, in a way that I finally understand so many things about myself that I had never any hope of understanding. I thought certain things just were. They were odd. They were quirky and I should just learn the best way to navigate life with them…”
