My first book, Your Rainforest Mind: A Guide to the Well-Being of Gifted Adults and Youth, is available to order (in paper or ebook) on Amazon, wherever Amazon is in your part of the world, Barnes and Noble (Nook), and at your independent bookstore. It is an in-depth look at giftedness in adults and teens through case studies of my counseling clients.
Linda K. Silverman of the Gifted Development Center wrote: “Interwoven with rich case studies from Paula’s counseling practice, Your Rainforest Mind will be earmarked and tear-stained. Prepare to lose your first copy to your best friend.”
Tom Clynes, author of The Boy Who Played With Fusion, wrote: “The rainforest is Paula Prober’s fresh and apt metaphor for the abundant internal ecosystem of the gifted child or adult. Like tropical forests around the world, the gifted are both fragile and powerful, surrounded by threats but full of world-changing potential. Prober does not settle for shallow or simplistic answers; she explores and finds inspiration in places that other researchers and practitioners haven’t considered. Drawing on examples from her clinical practice, she presents straightforward strategies for encouraging not just accomplishment, but also the capacity for happiness and fulfillment. The result is an intensely readable and useful book that will resonate with anyone concerned with understanding and nurturing the extraordinary abundance within ourselves and the gifted people in our lives.”
I’ve written a preview of my book here on my blog. Check it out. And, here’s a review from Jen who is the founder of Intergifted, a wonderful online resource for gifted adults. And a review from Kirkus Reviews:
“…The obvious compassion that Prober feels for others—much like the empathy of those she counsels—prevents the text from feeling clinical, and her knowledge and experience provides a gravitas that many other self-help volumes lack…her honesty throughout makes her text feel earnest and convincing…an engagingly written work…”
Thank you, dear readers, for being here with me. Let us know if you buy the book and what you think. Be sure to get a copy for your therapist, teachers, teenagers, partner, ex-partners, cousins, parents, and parents-in-law!

NEW RELEASE!!! My third book is now available. Saving Your Rainforest Mind: A Guided Journal for the Curious, Creative, Smart, & Sensitive.

Are you looking for a way to learn more about your rainforest mind through your own writing, drawing, deep personal explorations? Have you been a journal writer for years or have you been yearning for a place to express your creative wonderings and dive into your curiosities about who you are and where you are headed? Then, this one’s for you. From the introduction: “…This guided journal is your opportunity to take a deep dive into the highly sensitive seeker that is you. You’ll be shown how to increase your understanding, acceptance, and celebration of your multiple complexities through writing prompts, questions, structured exercises, and examples from my own journals. You’ll create, analyze, draw, design, visualize, laugh, and cry as you take the journey to find your authentic voice and paths to your uniquely passionate, powerful, and purposeful life.“
From Dr. Jade Ann Rivera: “Prober’s approach shines particularly bright for curious, creative, smart, and sensitive individuals. Her understanding of the challenges and triumphs that come with these traits is evident on every page. Through a skillful blend of reflective prompts, relatable anecdotes, and expert insights, she gently guides readers toward greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-celebration. What sets this journal apart is its ability to embrace complexity without overwhelming the reader. Instead of offering quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions, it encourages a genuine exploration of one’s inner landscape. It acknowledges the heartbreaks, struggles, and pieces of ancestral baggage that many carry while providing a roadmap to rebuild strength, authenticity, and radiance.”
From Dr. Gail Post: “This extraordinary workbook gently guides readers toward a deeper exploration of themselves. Powerful, touching, and relatable, the exercises and examples in the book offer exceptional guidance not found in most mainstream workbooks. Paula writes like a poet and provides supportive, soothing, and at times, quite funny examples that ease the reader into greater self-reflection – like a cozy blanket and warm cup of tea for the soul. You will feel enriched, comforted, entertained, and energized as you delve into this workbook. As a psychologist and writer, I am very “choosy” about what I recommend and what I am willing to read. This is the real deal! Read it for your own benefit; give another copy to those you love or work with.”

I am Hakeem, 22 from Malaysia, since I was born, I am so different and lonely. everyone tells me that I am weird and no one wants to be friends with me. I am used to being ignored and being misunderstood in my whole life. I try my best in everything but it just like I climb a mountain and when I reach the top, I see another one that even higher and I need to achieve it so everyone could notice that I exist. its, doesn’t matter how much I tried, everyone just walks faster than me and I am always the one who left behind, alone and depressed. I try to find a way on how to improve myself and I did research trough philosophy and psychology, personal quest, introspecting, and finding the answers on why I am the way I am intensely for 6 months. I push myself on level I forgot to sleep, eats, and even grooms.
I come to the conclusions just by seeing a picture in Google images. all my traits were listed there and I know it is the reason why I am the way I am. the answer is stated in this book covers matched with my behaviors; Highly Sensitive person, hyper-empathy, intense perfectionist, highly prospective and incredibly intuitive… ” I am not slow, I am way too fast and the way to improve myself are to disimprove myself.’ , I was not being left behind, I’m simply too much ahead. hahhahaha…first time in my life I think my life is funny. I look at the mirror and I laughed at myself. with an IQ of 136, I am INFJ-T, Eannegram 4w5, tritype 4-8-5, an Empath, an Indigo, an Old soul, and A Gifted adults.
I’m still studying and I don’t have the money yet to buy this book for now but I am so thankful that I found my self. I believe this is a good book, its solve my life puzzles and show the way out from a maze just by its covers. the answers of all my wonders may be inside of it. one day, I am gonna buy this book.
